“I wish when I was twelve there was a program like DAREarts…”

DAREarts Vancouver, August, 2013

As part of Cavalier Jewellers’ initiative to support the community, 5% from each piece of Karen La of Broken Promises jewellery sold goes towards DAREarts for the month of August, 2013.

Taking inspiration from minimal art and 90’s nostalgia, Broken Promises’ collection Irregular Polygons sees Karen La navigating her designs through the use of primary forms, linear lines and familiar symbols.  Working within this visual language, these limitations have constructed a series of modern, expressive, yet entirely wearable pieces of jewellery.

Why DAREarts? Ms La says, “I grew up in Vancouver and went to east side public schools my entire childhood.  I wish when I was 12 there was a program like DAREarts that exposed you to a professional level of performing and visual arts and allowed us to partake in the production of it.  I’ve chosen this non-profit as my organization because I would like as many young adolescents as possible to have opportunities like this.”

Cavalier jewellers is a locally owned and operated fine jewellery shoppe located in Vancouver, B.C. Showcasing local designers with exclusive collections, Cavalier also specializes in, but is not limited to custom design, wholesale, repair, and appraisals.

Thank you, Karen La and Cavalier Jewellers for your support!
